Geneva, (ST) – The United Nations Children Agency (UNICEF) has warned of the dire situation of children in Gaza. It warned that hundreds of thousands of them are now living in the streets and roads of Gaza without shelter.
The Agency indicated in a statement on its official website that about 1.3 million people, including 610,000 children, live in the streets and roads in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. It said that their access to safe drinking water is very limited in the light of the deadly attack launched by the Israeli occupation on the Strip.
The organization said: Water is the source of life and Gaza has been left without potabe water and amid the ongoing bombardment, access to clean water and sanitation is extremely limited, as is access to medicine, while 60 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
Since October 7 last year, the Israeli occupation has launched a brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has led to the destruction of tens of thousands of homes and infrastructure, especially health infrastructure, and left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded.
