Minister of Local Administration and Environment discusses enhancing cooperation with the World Food Programme
Damascus-(ST)- The meeting held by the Minister of Local Administration and Environment and Head of the High Relief Committee Lamia Shakour with the Representative and Country Director of the World Food Program in Syria Kenneth Crossley focused on strengthening the program’s work mechanisms in Syria, especially early recovery, in the light of the developments related to available funding for the current year.
Minister Shakur pointed to the importance of cooperation with the program in the field of providing food aid under the supervision of the High Relief Committee, noting the importance of the program’s endeavor to increase support for those in need, especially in the light of the unjust siege imposed on Syria and the unilateral coercive measures, which requires the continued implementation of humanitarian aid projects.
For his part, Crossley stated that the new work mechanism of the program comes as a result of the lack of available funding, which requires more cooperation between the two sides to improve the response to the needs in Syria during the current year, with a focus on new initiatives within the framework of emergency aid, and continuing to implement recovery projects and support livelihoods.
