The Ministry of Culture has condemned in the strongest terms the US barbaric aggression that targeted Al-Rahbeh archeological castle, located near the Euphrates in Al-Mayadin city in Deir Ezzor. The castle was built in the 9th century AD.
In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said “through this blatant aggression, the American occupation violates all international conventions and norms which call for protecting and respecting cultural property pursuant to article 4 of the Hague Convention of 1954”.
This dawn, the US occupation forces conducted airstrikes against a number of sites and towns in the eastern region of Syria and near the Syrian and Iraqi borders, which led to the martyrdom of a number of civilians and soldiers and the wounding of others, and which caused significant damage to public and private property.
