Syrian national footbal team’s defender, Aiham Ousou… First Syrian player in La Liga

Syrian national football team’s defender Aiham Ousou joined the Spanish club Cadiz on loan until the end of the current season 2023-2024, coming from the Czech soccer club Slavia Prague.

The Cadiz Club welcomed its new 24-year-old player, in a post on X platform that read: “The Cadiz Club and Slavia Prague have reached an agreement on the loan of Aiham Ousou until the end of the season.” Thus, Ousou became the first Syrian player to play in La Liga.

Ousou was born in Sweden in 2000. He plays as central defender and participated with the Syrian national team in the Asian Cup currently underway in Qatar, where he played as main player in all four matches of the national team, contributed, along with the rest of the national team players, to qualifying to the round of 16 of the tournament and gave an honorable performance in the last match with Iran, which ended in Iran’s favour on penalties.

Ousou has previously played for a number of Swedish clubs, including Hacken Club, which he joined in 2018 until 2021. He also played on loan for the Swedish Eskilstuna and GAIS, before joining Slavia Prague, where he was again loaned back to Hacken in August 2023.

It is worth mentioning that Cadiz is currently 18th in La Liga.
