The Syrian sports delegation participating in the West Asian Paralympic Games, currently being held in Sharjah, achieved nine various medals (4 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze).
In the athletics competition, Alaa Abdel Salam won a gold medal in the shot put and javelin throw, while Bassam Sousak won a gold medal in the javelin throw, a silver in the discus throw, and a bronze in the shot put. Wassim Khadour won a gold in the javelin throw, and Khalil Muhammad won a bronze in the shot put and discus throw.
In the badminton competition, Firas Shiha won the silver medal.
Today, Syrian players are scheduled to compete in table tennis and physical strength competitions.
12 countries are participating in the tournament; the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, in addition to Syria.
