US Senator: Many members of the House of Representatives and Senate choose to ignore the disaster in Gaza
US Senator Bernie Sanders expressed his regret that many members of the US House of Representatives and Senate choose to ignore the serious humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, at a time when the United States provides annual military aid to Israel.
In the context of an article published by the British newspaper The Guardian, Sanders explained that Washington is a partner in what is happening in Gaza, as it provides “Israel” with military aid worth $3.8 billion every year, in addition to the bombs and military equipment that are destroying Gaza which are made in the United States, adding: “It is impossible to describe what It is happening”.
The US Senator stressed that if we do not see a radical improvement in the accessibility of humanitarian aid very soon to the besieged Gaza Strip, then countless numbers of innocent people, including thousands of children, may die from dehydration, diarrhea, preventable diseases and starvation.
The US Senator called on the administration of US President Joe Biden not to ignore what the Palestinians are experiencing in Gaza, and Congress and the American people should not ignore it, stressing that the Israeli occupation is deliberately starving the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as indiscriminate bombing by Israel and restrictions imposed on humanitarian aid have led to this catastrophe which has created one of the most severe humanitarian disasters in recent times.
During its session held the day before yesterday in The Hague, the International Court of Justice imposed a number of temporary measures regarding the case brought by South Africa against the Israeli occupation entity, including the necessity of taking all measures to prevent acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention and to ensure that the urgent humanitarian needs of the Gaza Strip are provided immediately in a proper manner.
The list of weapons that America has pumped into the Israeli occupation entity in its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip is long, ranging from special operations teams to aircraft carriers and A2 Hawkeye surveillance aircraft known for their radar that provides an early warning system when launching anti-missiles, all the way to F-18 fighter jets.
