Positive reactions to the ICJ’s ruling on South Africa’s genocide case against Israel

The ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to impose temporary measures against the Israeli occupation entity to prevent committing more acts of genocide committed by this entity against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip was widely welcomed by Arab and international parties.

The reactions considered the decision as the start of holding the occupation accountable for its crimes and providing protection for the Palestinians.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation stressed that the international community should assume its responsibilities towards achieving justice for the Palestinian people, providing them with international protection, and putting an end to the Israeli acts of genocide to which they are being exposed.

The organization affirmed the need to press ahead with efforts to completely stop the brutal Israeli aggression and acts of genocide, including killing, displacement and destruction, throughout the occupied Palestinian territory, and to provide immediate, adequate and sustainable humanitarian needs to Gaza Strip.

The Arab Parliament welcomed the court’s ruling, but asked how any temporary measures can be implemented without a ceasefire. “The International Court of Justice should have issued a decision for an immediate ceasefire,” the Arab Parliament stressed, describing what the occupation has been doing in Gaza over the past four months as a crime of genocide under the sight of the world.
