The activities of the 55th Edition of the Cairo International Book Fair were launched in the Egyptian capital, with the participation of Syrian, local and Arab publishers.
Haitham Hafez, head of the Syrian Publishers Union, said in a statement: Syria is participating in the fair through approximately 80 publishing houses. He explained that these houses provide the Arab reader with all their cultural needs, which enrich their intellectual aspirations amid the distortion and destruction attempts that target intellectual identity in the region in a desperate attempt by the nation’s enemies to erase the Arab culture and change its compass, which makes it the responsibility of the Arab publishers to have a major task in controlling the correct trends and exposing these attempts.
Hafez pointed out that despite the difficulties facing the Syrian publishers, they continue their lofty mission, pointing out that the Syrian publications this year include many new titles by an elite group of distinguished Arab writers in all fields.
He said that the Cairo International Book Fair will witness many Syrian events, including the participation in the meetings of the Arab Publishers Union, meetings with international federations, and the signing of many books.
The exhibition, in its 55th edition, was opened at the Egypt International Exhibition Center under the slogan “We create knowledge… we preserve the word,” and will continue until the 6th of next February.
