TEHRAN,(ST)_ “Western countries are fueling violence in Syria, through the supply of weapons to terrorists so as to impose the foreign will on her”, stressed the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign ministry Ramin Mehmanparast in a press conference on Tuesday, reiterating his country’s rejection of any foreign interference in Syria’s affairs.
” Countries working to ignite violence and escalate the crisis in Syria by providing terrorists with weapons and through preparing the ground for foreign and military intervention , are but the same countries that keep silent now before the crimes committed by Zionist entity against the Palestinian people in Gaza”, the Iranian official underscored.
He also indicated the need to find a ground for a comprehensive national dialogue to solve the crisis in Syria, pointing out that the dialogue conference in Tehran came in the context of finding a peaceful solution to this crisis.
The Iranian official outlined two possible approaches to Syrian issue: “First approach is a political one, a peaceful one, which Iran supports. It means weapons smuggling into Syria must stop, there must also be no foreign intervention in Syria, so a national dialogue could be held,” Mehmanparast said, adding that the demands of Syrian people must be met.
He continued that second approach, is an approach of force, meaning the continuation of violence, weapons smuggling, and so on, adding that the “people of Syria need to make their own decisions, while Iran favors any solution to the issue that would bring stability and peace in Syria”.
He pointed out that the support of the Palestinian people is a priority for Iran’s foreign policy noting that , “the crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people and Gaza Strip , make it imperative for all countries , especially the Islamic countries, to defend the oppressed Palestinian people by all means.
Concerning the negotiations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran’s nuclear program Mehmanparast expressed Iran’s readiness to resume constructive talks with the “five plus one” group, explaining that the condition set for the success of the talks is to recognize Iran’s legitimate right to own a nuclear program for peaceful purposes and the countries “five plus one ” to give up their wrong approach towards this issue.
