Ala: More pressure must be exerted to stop the Israeli aggression on Palestine

Cairo (ST) – Syria’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Hossam Eddin Ala, affirmed that the Israeli occupation continues its genocidal war against the Palestinian people, which requires the Arab countries to put more pressure on the United Nations, especially the Security Council, to stop the Israeli aggression.

In a speech on Monday during the extraordinary Arab League Council meeting at the level of permanent delegates, held in Cairo at the request of the State of Palestine, Ambassador Ala stressed that the Zionist entity is continuing its systematic genocidal war against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip, ignoring international laws and UN resolutions, which call for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories occupied in 1967, and to enable the Palestinian people to build their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.

Ambassador Ala stated that in the light of this Western support, represented by the political and military support, the Zionist entity seeks to plunge the region into an open regional war, by expanding the circle of its attacks on Syrian and Lebanese lands.

He noted that the Israeli aggression, which targeted a residential building in a neighbourhood in Damascus last Saturday, and which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of civilian citizens and the complete destruction of the building and caused damage to the buildings adjacent to it, confirms the criminal nature of this entity and its disregard for international laws.

“In this context, Syria looks forward to witnessing a clear and firm stance by the Arab League countries that condemns this Israeli attack, as it is an aggression that violates Syria’s sovereignty, threatens the security of its citizens, and endangers regional and international peace and security, and that holds (Israel) responsible for the consequences of this crime”, Ambassador Ala stated.

“The failure of the Israeli aggression to break the will of the Palestinian people, after 108 days of brutal aggression that turned Gaza into a scorched earth and led to the martyrdom of more than 25,000 Palestinians, requires putting more pressure on the UN, especially the Security Council, in order to assume its responsibilities in taking deterrent measures to stop the Israeli aggression, provide protection for the Palestinian people, and curb Israeli provocations and attacks that threaten regional and international peace and security”, he said.
