PLO: The occupation has been waging a war of genocide against the Palestinians for 76 years

The Palestinian Liberation Organization confirmed that the war of annihilation waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and the plans for displacement, destruction and killing have not stopped for 76 years, but rather are escalating and increasing in scope, noting that the occupation’s daily targeting of camps in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is a continuation of the episodes of the Nakba.

Wafa Agency quoted the Organization’s Refugee Affairs Department as saying in a statement today: Hardly a day goes by without our steadfast camps being subjected to incursions, accompanied by bombing, killing, destruction of infrastructure, demolition of homes and public and private facilities, and arrests accompanied by brutal repression and abuse in an attempt to break the Palestinian national struggle movement and the defense of national rights, especially the right to return and the restoration of property, in addition to making life impossible inside the camps and pushing refugees to flee and think of emigrating outside Palestine. The Organization explained that the occupation’s attacks on the camps and refugees are an attack on the refugee issue, which represents the core of the Palestinian national issue, and from here comes the major targeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA, and the promotion of slander and misleading accusations that the occupation is trying to attach to this international institution in order to write it off and weaken its work side by side with the Zionist incitement of donor countries against UNRWA.

The Organization stressed that the genocide that the camps are being subjected to in Jabalia, Al-Shati, Deir Al-Balah, Al-Nuseirat, Al-Maghazi, Rafah, Khan Yunis, Al-Bureij, and all areas in the Gaza Strip comes in the context of the deliberate targeting of the camps, as these camps have the highest population density, and thus the occupation is carrying out the largest systematic destruction of entire neighborhoods and residential squares. These practices by the Israeli occupation have led to the fall of thousands of martyrs and tens of thousands of wounded and missing, and it is the same targeting and extermination that the Jerusalem camps and the rest of the areas of the West Bank are subjected to, as they have been subjected to more than 269 invasions and raids since the occupation began its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The Department of Refugee Affairs indicated that the occupation is daily deepening the displacement of people  in the Gaza Strip, bringing the number of displaced people to about 2 million, and the occupation is also escalating the crimes of forced displacement in the West Bank, where since the beginning of the aggression the Israeli occupation has displaced 2,402 Palestinians from villages in Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, Jericho and the Dead Sea, in addition to hundreds of Palestinians who were displaced following house demolitions in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and camps.

The Department of Refugee Affairs stressed that the Palestinian refugee issue cannot be divided, and all attempts by the occupation to bring about transformations in Palestinian demographics will fail in the face of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
