Al-Malki urges Non-Aligned Movement to lead international efforts to stop the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza

The Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki has called on the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries to lead the international efforts to stop the genocide being committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and to defend human rights and achieve international justice.

In a statement during the NAM’s 19th summit, being held in the in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, Al-Malki said “we are experiencing decisive moments in the history of international politics, as 106 days have passed since the Israeli occupation began its campaign of mass slaughter, deliberate starvation, and systematic destruction against the Palestinian people in Gaza, yet the international community has failed to assume its legal responsibilities regarding the situation in Gaza, which allowed the genocide to continue and undermined the viability of the international law”.

He said that in over 100 days, the Israeli bombardment killed hundreds of civilians, including 10,000 children, and nearly 10,000 people are still buried under the rubble, mostly women and children.

The Foreign Minister added that Israeli fighter jets have further massively destroyed over 70% of homes and buildings in Gaza and displaced nearly 2 million Palestinians, half of them children.

Meanwhile, Al-Malki went on to say “Israeli occupation forces are also wreaking death, destruction, and brutality at unprecedented proportions in the occupied West Bank, including Al-Quds (Jerusalem) while the Israeli government is choking the Palestinian economy and forcibly displacing hundreds of Palestinian civilians.

He hailed the unprecedented South Africa’s genocide case against Israel before the International Court of Justice, pointing out that “South Africa had the moral clarity and courage to stand up for humanity and defend the endangered international law.”
