Euro-Mediterranean Monitor: Genocide Crimes Continue In Gaza Despite The Lawsuit Against “Israel” Before International Justice

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor announced that the Israeli occupation forces have killed more than a thousand Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, since the International Court of justice adjourned a week ago to consider a lawsuit filed by the Republic of South Africa against “Israel” for violations of its obligations under the convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide.

“Contrary to the narrative presented by the Israeli team of lawyers before the International Court of justice to deny the charge of genocide, the facts on the ground prove that Israel has never stopped committing this crime, even during its defense hearing before the court, “Euro-Med said in a statement today.

The Monitor pointed out that the events of the last week of the aggression refute the claims of the Israeli occupation before the International Court of Justice, as it continues to carry out mass and individual killings, and killed in just seven days 1018 Palestinians, including 390 children and 208 women.

The Observatory pointed out that the mentioned statistics included only those who arrived at hospitals, while there is still data on the death of others by at least 15 people a day, during this period, their bodies did not arrive at hospitals because their bodies could not be recovered, or are buried in temporary graves. In terms of targeting civilian objects, the Euro-Mediterranean Monitor pointed out that from January 12 to 18, the occupation forces destroyed 22 residential blocks in the central neighborhoods of Khan Younis and the southern areas of the Gaza Strip and 4 residential blocks in the central Gaza Strip. Preliminary estimates indicate that about 6 thousand housing units were completely and partially destroyed during the same period, in addition to targeting two universities and 7 schools.

The Euro-Mediterranean Monitor condemned the continuation of the Israeli occupation using starvation as a tool of war, pointing out that the aid entering the Gaza Strip in general, and what reached the northern Gaza Strip in particular, does not meet the growing needs after more than a hundred days of the brutal attacks.

The observatory warned of the danger of continuing severe shortages of food, medical and basic materials in the Gaza Strip, especially with the increasing risk of famine and the exposure of more people to outbreaks of serious and deadly diseases, recalling what independent UN experts said: the population of Gaza represents 80 percent of all people in the world who face the risk of famine or catastrophic hunger, in light of the continued bombardment and siege by “Israel”.

The Euro-Mediterranean monitored the persistence of inflammatory statements by Israeli officials showing a premeditated intention to commit genocide, so that the Israeli ministers continued to issue statements that incite the extermination of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, uprooting them from their land, by subjecting them to living conditions that destroy them and eventually push them to be forcibly displaced.

The Observatory pointed out that it did not monitor the entry of any of the international commissions of inquiry and fact-finding, as well as the UN Special Rapporteurs to the Gaza Strip, due to the fact that “Israel” prevented their entry into the Strip through it, as well as obstructing their entry into the Strip from the Rafah land crossing.

The observatory warned of the serious consequences of not allowing international committees to enter the Gaza Strip, especially with regard to the criminal evidence condemning “Israel” for its crimes committed there.

The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory stressed that these data require the International Court of justice to accelerate its decision to take urgent measures to stop the genocide committed by “Israel” against the residents of the Gaza Strip, and protect them from any additional serious and irreparable harm.
