Boosting the Syrian – Ugandan bilateral relations discussed

On the sidelines of the nineteenth summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in the Ugandan capital Kampala, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh discussed today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda Abubakar Gigi Odongo bilateral relations and the means of developing them.

During the meeting, Sabbagh congratulated Uganda on assuming the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and the chairmanship of the group of 77 and China, stressing the importance of these two groups in mobilizing support for developing countries and the countries of the south in international forums, highlighting Syria’s commitment to work closely with Uganda to ensure the success of its chairmanship of these two groups.

Sabbagh stressed Syria’s keenness to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Syria and Uganda in various fields, including the exchange of visits between officials of both countries.

For his part, Odongo pointed to the important role played by Africa and the great development that has included most of its countries, in addition to the economic and demographic significance it enjoys on the international scene, stressing his country’s interest in developing relations with Syria, especially as it plays an important and historical role within the two groups.
