Engineer Arnous during his meeting with the Iranian ambassador: Following up on the implementation of the agreements in a way that reflects positively and directly on the economic situation in the two countries.

During his meeting today with the Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Hussein Akbari, Prime Minister Engineer Hussein Arnous stressed the importance of the meetings of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Supreme Committee that was held recently in Tehran, and the results it reached through signing important agreements and understandings in a number of vital areas. He indicated the need to follow up on the implementation of these agreements according to specific time programs, which will reflect positively and directly on the economic situation in both countries.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to strengthen the work of the business sectors in Syria and Iran, expand cooperation between them, launch joint projects that are economically feasible, and take all measures to ensure the smooth flow of trade exchange. He pointed out the Syrian government’s keenness to open broader horizons for joint work, especially in the economic, commercial, industrial and financial sectors, with the presence of important investment opportunities in the country.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador said: “Revitalizing bilateral economic relations receives all attention from the Iranian government.” He  stressed the importance of forming a joint committee to follow up on the implementation of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding.

The meeting discussed following up on taking the necessary steps to enhance trade exchange in local currencies, establishing banking channels, diversifying joint investment projects, and establishing partnerships between the two business sectors. This partnership contributes to improving the economic reality of the two countries, and overcoming the difficulties facing economic cooperation and joint work.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Muhammad Khadr, and the delegation accompanying the Iranian ambassador.
