Mauritanian Parliamentary delegation visits Syria to discuss prospects of cooperation

A Mauritanian Parliamentary delegation on Sunday visited Syria to discuss prospects of cooperation with Syrian officials. The delegation was led by Head of the Syrian-Mauritanian Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee Aldah Sohaib.

Prime Minister Hussein Arnous met with Sohaib and the accompanying delegation and discussed with him bilateral relations between Syria and Mauritania.

Arnous said Syria and Mauritania have ancient institutions capable of managing their affairs and directing their interests to meet  the aspirations of their people.

Arnous stressed the importance of activating the work of the joint government committee, and putting into effect the cooperation documents signed between the two brotherly countries.

The prime minister expressed the Syrian government’s desire to hold a meeting of the joint committee as soon as possible, to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries.

He referred to Syria’s  willingness  to benefit from the Mauritanian experience in the fisheries sector, whether in terms of supplying fish products or establishing joint food industry projects, in addition to exporting Syrian products, especially fabrics, clothing, agricultural products and medicines, to Mauritania.

The premier stressed Syria’s endeavor to strengthen economic partnership and trade exchange with Arab countries, in a way that serves the process of activating joint Arab action.

For his part, Sohaib reiterated his country’s support for Syria in facing the challenges it has been exposing ,  underlining  the necessity of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the economic fields, higher education, health, and other vital fields that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Also, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh met also with  Aldah Sohaib and the Chargé d’Affairs of the Mauritanian Embassy in Damascus Mohamed Sheikh Samba Bay.

During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the deeply rooted of the fraternal relations between Syria and Mauritania, and the necessity of boosting them to the highest levels, to include all domains, in a way that reflects positively on the interest of the peoples of the two brotherly countries.

He appreciated highly  Mauritania’s stances in support of Syria and its just causes in regional and international forums, especially in confronting the terrorist war which has been waged since 13 years.

Sabbagh reviewed the plundering of  Syria’s resources  and capabilities  by the American and Turkish occupiers, and the barbaric Israeli aggression which  Palestine is being exposed to, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian martyrs.

He stressed  the necessity of continuing to support the Palestinian cause  to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. .

For his part, Sohaib reiterated the importance of working to expand the horizons of cooperation with Syria and develop it in all fields, especially scientific and cultural.
