Palestinian Researcher: “Israel” has flooded the social media sites with misleading information about Gaza

Linda Shalash, a Palestinian journalist, academic and researcher in media and Middle Eastern studies with focus on digital diplomacy, has stressed that Israel has been waging two parallel wars against the Palestinian People in Gaza Strip, one of them is a war of extermination with lethal and internationally-banned weapons and the other is a heinous media war through using fake accounts on social media that post fake news and lies about events in Gaza that serve the Zionist narrative.

In a report published by the US “Politics Today”, under the title “Another War: Israel’s Fake Accounts to Support Its Narrative”, Shalash said that Israel has sought to flood the social media with misleading information and lies to deceive the world public opinion.

She explained that in more than one case, Western media organizations and presidents have repeated Israeli claims without verifying them. Israel’s claim that Hamas killed 40 Israeli children and beheaded them is perhaps the most prominent example of recent Israeli media misinformation.

Shalash said that the digital war that Israel is fiercely waging is a revelation of the dark side of the digital revolution and social media sites.
