Russian MP: The West and “Israel” are deliberately escalating the situation in the region

The Deputy Chairman of the Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Committee of the Russian State Duma Oleg Machichev has stressed that the West and “Israel” are deliberately escalating the situation in the Middle East to serve their own interests.

In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow, Machichev said that the United States and its allies are responsible, alongside Israel, for the human casualties and the violent acts in the Middle East, reiterating that the western countries are held completely responsible for the continuation of this situation.

He pointed out that Israel continues with its attacks on Syria and Lebanon and tension increases in Yemen and Iraq, warning against the continuity of such provocative acts.

He stressed that his country adheres to its firm stance, which calls for attaining peace and ending the conflict in the Middle East, but the United States and its allies continue to block draft resolutions submitted by Russia at the Security Council with the aim of stepping up violence in the region to serve their interests.
