Syrian Arab army target terrorist groupings outside Damascus and Aleppo—terrorists fire 14 shells on residential areas

PROVINCES,(ST)_Units of the armed forces have targeted a lot of foreign-backed terrorist groups in more than 46 areas in five provinces, according to the official news agency.

The death toll of terrorists in operations launched on Wednesday was not reported, but it was said that tens of terrorists, including ringleaders, were eliminated outside Damascus and Homs, Daraa and Idleb provinces and in Aleppo province.

For the third day running, the army units have continued targeting terrorist groupings and hideouts in Bor Sa’ed quarter in al-Qadam area, around 7km to the southern of Damascus, where two ringleaders died. 

A third ringleader plus many of terrorists were killed in a qualitative operation in al-Eb farms in Duma area and Wadi Ein Tarma outside Damascus.

There were also other operations against terrorists in several locations in Darayya, Adra, Yabroud, Jeroud, al-Nasereyeh, areas outside Damascus and in towns of al-Dar al-Kabira, al-Khaledeyeh, al-Abbodeyeh, Tal Hanash, Kherbet al-Nemat outside al-Qusair in Homs province.   

An unknown number of armed terrorist groups were crushed in the said areas and in area of Serj al-Debs, Wadi al-Safa and Hawwara, al-Zara outside Homs province.

Infiltration bid from Lebanon

In the same province, the army units warded off terrorists’ infiltration bid from Lebanon through Wadi Kalid into Talkalkh countryside where rocket launchers were seized.

Around 190km to the north of Homs province, precisely in Aleppo province, the army units struck terrorist groupings and hideouts in quarters of Qadi Askar, Karm Maisar, al-Marjeh, Bestan al-Qasr, al-Rashedin, al-Jazmati, and at al-Hawoz square in Aleppo city as well as in towns of Jdedeh, Kweris, al-Sheikh Najjar, Daret Ezeh, al-Atareb, M’arret al-Arteq, al-Wadehi and Ezan.

More operations were carried out outside Daraa and Idleb provinces, according to military sources.

Terrorists kill 5 citizens

In a separate development, it was said that at least 5 citizens were martyred and 4 others wounded in terrorist attacks targeted residential areas in Homs, Daraa, Damascus, Damascus countryside, Hama and Der Ezzour provinces.

The attacks took place when terrorist fired 14 shells on the residential areas. They caused material damages at the scenes.

The shells hit the military hospital in Der Ezour province, Hospital quarter in Bosra al-Sham city in Daraa province, al-Waer quarter in Homs province , Bab Sharqi quarter and al-Hariqa area in Damascus province, Talfita town and Cherubim monastery outside Damascus province, and Mhardeh city outside Hama province.

Other 3 workers for Electricity Ministry were wounded when terrorists opened fire on them as they were repairing a high voltage transmission line in Yabroud area outside Damascus.

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor terrorist groups operating in Syria, media reports say.
