The Syrian Culture Forum in Lattakia held its first joint Arab events for 2024 on Saturday with the participation of poets from Syria, Palestine and Iraq.
Several poems about Arab solidarity, resistance, homeland, love and fluttering were read by poets from Syria and other Arab countries.
Head of the forum, the poetess Wadi’a Darweesh said this cultural activity aims at achieving the forum’s national goals, which are deepening national belonging and the values of martyrdom, consolidating the nationalist and resistance thinking. She pointed out that the activity also includes symposiums, lectures and afforestation and cleaning up campaigns.
For his part, member of the General Secretariat of the Union of the Palestinian Communities in Europe and member of the Arab Writers Union in Syria, Hani Jalbout, affirmed that today’s event aims at conveying a message saying that as the heroes of resistance have united against the Zionist enemy, literature must also keep pace with this stage. “We are in dire need for such gatherings, especially since we are now in a new phase of conflict with the Zionist enemy,” he said.
Head of the Iraqi Forum for Culture and Literature, the writer Rajab Al-Sheikh, expressed his pride and happiness for participating in this forum which is an opportunity for Arab poets to meet and present their best poetry production.
