Foreign Ministry: Israel’s repeated attacks on Syrian territory reflect the inherent tendency of the Zionist leadership to kill and destroy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed that Israel’s repeated aggression against Syrian territory reflects an intrinsic tendency of the Zionist leaders to pursue their insistent approach to killing and destruction, calling on the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities in implementing the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and international humanitarian law.

In a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council on Israeli aggressions against Syrian territory, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said, “The Israeli occupation authorities  renewed their defiance of world public opinion, UN resolutions and calls of most members of the Security Council not to expand the aggression against the Palestinian people, by launching two new aggressions at 11:5 p.m. on Thursday 28- 12- 2023 from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the southern region. It also carried out aerial aggression from the direction of Lebanese territory at 1.20 a.m. on Friday, 29-12-2023 , targeting a number of points in the vicinity of Damascus. “

“It is clear to the United States of America, France, Britain and other countries of the collective West that Israel has not left even a word of the charters of international law and international humanitarian law except that it has violated them without mercy, “the ministry said.

“The repeated new attacks on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic and the incessant threats against Lebanon and other Arab countries in the region show the reality of the goals of the Zionist entity, which wants to expand in the region at the expense of Arab rights in Palestine and other occupied territories,” the ministry stressed.

“The United States of America and other Western countries know that reaching a just and comprehensive peace, which the international community has sought, has always been confronted by Israel’s outbreak of wars and battles that have shown that this entity does not want peace and stability in the region, but wants land and peace at the expense of Arab rights, “the ministry added.

“The Syrian Arab Republic has presented the facts of the Zionist attacks on Syria to the Security Council with one goal: Syria has warned the Zionist entity and the so-called international community of the consequences of continuing the attacks, ” the ministry said. Syria also warned the United States of its continued occupation of the Syrian East and its looting of Syrian wealth, especially oil and gas, and its unstoppable support for the “Daesh-(Isis)” and separatist forces that receive Washington’s continuous military, political and financial support at the expense of the unity of the land and the people of the Syrian Arab Republic. This once again confirms the link between the American and Zionist aggressions against the people and the land of Palestine, Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic,” it said.

“Syria once again calls on the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in implementing the provisions of the United Nations Charter and international humanitarian law. These and other charters that Israel has torn up in front of the entire world and in direct insult to the United Nations and the absolute majority of member states of this international organization.”

The Ministry concluded by saying, “at these moments, days before the start of the new year, the peoples of the world should shoulder their responsibilities, especially to stop the massacres committed by the Zionist occupation authorities against the Palestinian people and the introduction of urgent humanitarian assistance, as well as to stop the aggressions carried out by Israel, the United States of America and their allies against the Syrian people.
