Russian researcher: The US is plundering the wealth of the Syrian people

Moscow (ST) – Director of the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University, Alexei Maslov, affirmed that the US is plundering Syrian natural resources and creating difficulties and suffering for the Syrians.

He noted that the situation in the region in general is complicated and entails the risk of creating new conflicts.

Maslov stated that: “The role of the US in Syria deserves condemnation, as the Americans plunder the natural resources of the Syrian people, and practice a policy of double standards there and create difficulties and suffering for the Syrian citizens, which threatens with a humanitarian catastrophe.”

On the other hand, Maslov stressed that many countries in the world have determined their position on the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the Palestinian people. He clarified that Russia and China have renewed their call for the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.

Maslov indicated that Washington is practicing a negative policy in the Middle East with its blatant bias toward the Zionist entity, considering that things are changing and not going as the US and Israel desire, as the US has lost control over the course of events in the region.
