A Syrian lady excels in making pearl and crystal jewelry artworks

The sixty-five years of age were not an obstacle facing the Syrian craftswoman Ittihad Homsi to achieve her passion for making pearls and crystals works to create decorative pieces and handicraft accessories with mastery and precision that dazzle the viewer with their colors and brilliant sparkle.

The craftswoman told a SANA reporter that she began learning this craft by chance from one of her friends more than 10 years ago, and she manufactured small pieces of accessories including rings, chains, and bracelets. She was then able to master her work and expand it by taking advantage of several websites for teaching handicrafts.

Homsi indicated that after her mastery of the work and her great knowledge of fashion developments, she took on another aspect of the work, manufacturing various shapes according to customers’ requests, such as  bags, hospitality boxes, and jewelry boxes) made of crystal beads and pearls in various colors to suit different tastes.

To market her crafts, Homsi explained, she depends on social media and a number of her friends in several countries, in addition to her continuous participation in exhibitions and bazaars to market her products, especially the “Syrian Colors” bazaar for handicrafts, which is held continuously at the Damascus Sheraton Hotel.

Homsi advised young women and housewives to take advantage of their free time by learning these crafts that depend on simple materials and teaching them to their children to make useful things that provide them with a financial return that helps them in their lives on the one hand, and enhances their skills and creativity by introducing them to others, on the other hand.
