Syria calls on the Security Council and the United Nations to put an end to Israel’s aggressive policies

Damascus (ST) – Syria called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council to bear responsibility to put an end to the aggressive Israeli policies that threaten to ignite the region and push it towards a comprehensive escalation that threatens regional and international peace and security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in two identical letters addressed to both the Secretary-General of the UN and the President of the Security Council regarding the attack carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the vicinity of Damascus on the 25th of this month, “At 16:20 last Monday, the Israeli occupation forces carried out an aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan targeting the vicinity of the city of Damascus, which led to the martyrdom of the military advisor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, Radhi Mousavi, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”

“This Israeli aggression against the sovereignty of the Syrian territories comes within the framework of the occupation authorities’ efforts to expand and escalate their aggression in the region and to cover up war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity and brutal massacres that they commit on a daily basis against the Palestinian people”, the Ministry added.

“The Syrian Arab Republic adheres to its right to defend its sovereignty and independence, a right affirmed by Article 51 of the UN Charter”, the Ministry stated, stressing that the hysterical Israeli attacks will not weaken Syria’s determination to restore its occupied territories.
