Christmas market opens in Damascus

The activities of the Christmas market opened at the Old Fair City in Damascus with the participation of 90 craftsmen and producers to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Damascus.

The market is a group of huts spread across the fairgrounds in an attractive way resembling a small village from various Syrian governorates. The market opens from the 10th  till the 31st of  December 2023 displaying handmade products, food, sweets, clothes, accessories, dolls, shoes, bags and other things for Christmas .

Ms. Lolita Bashor, from the organizing company, told Syria times  that  the experience of the Christmas   market started last year  and it was a successful experience .

“The market is divided into three parts. The first part is devoted to handmade gifts and handmade products, the second for foods and juices, and the third part is  restaurants and parks for children.” She added.

“ Participants this year increased compared to last year .The aim of holding this event is to entertain people and market the displaying  products” Lolita said.

Participant Louna Koudmani displays  a variety of handbags made of acrylic and crystal stones. Louna told Syria times the she had been working in making handmade bags since a year and half

We display in this event a variety of handbags in different colors red, black and green as  made of acrylic and crystal stones for Christmas .

We have  participated in several bazaars and exhibitions to show our distinctive products directly to people.

Participant Areej Ali exhibits  products to care for the body and hair naturally  using natural materials away from chemicals including natural soaps, crèmes, lotions, shampoos, oils and others.

Areej has been making natural beauty care for ten years and is participating in the Christmas market for the second time to market her products.

Another participant Firas Kharouf, displays handmade chocolate devoted for Christmas and other occasions

He participates for the first time because he sees that this event is a good opportunity to make people acquainted with his products.

For his part Ammar Al- Halabi from Syrian Handicrafts Company took part in the Christmas market to encourage and market handmade products and  preserve our heritage.

“We display soaps, perfumes ,  embroiderers, candles, crochet products, glasses, and wooden items,” he said.
