UN General Assembly adopts a resolution supporting the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination

The UN General Assembly on Wednesday overwhelmingly adopted a resolution supporting the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

172 countries voted in favor of the resolution, while 3 countries, along with the Israeli occupation entity,  voted against it, while 10 countries abstained from voting.

The resolution reaffirmed the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to have their independent state of Palestine, and urges all countries, specialized agencies and organizations of the United Nations to continue to support the Palestinian people and help them achieve their right to self-determination as soon as possible.

​The resolution stressed the urgent necessity to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories without delay based on the relevant UN resolutions and the necessity of respecting and preserving the unity of the entire occupied Palestinian territory, including the city of Jerusalem.

The UN Permanent Representative of Palestine Riyad Mansour, expressed his thanks to the countries that voted in favor of the resolution, noting that the overwhelming support for it indicates that the international community strongly supports the rights of the Palestinian people, especially in the midst of the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. .
