UNGA reaffirms sovereignty of the Syrians in occupied Golan and the Palestinians in occupied territories over their natural resources

The UN General Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution reaffirming the complete sovereignty of the Syrians in occupied Golan and the Palestinian people in the occupied territories over their natural resources.

The resolution was adopted after 150 countries voted in favor of it, 5 countries as well as the Israeli occupation entity voted against it, while 13 countries abstained from voting.

The resolution reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan and of the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including the land, the water, and the energy resources.

In its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly called on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop exploiting the natural resources in the occupied Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Al-Quds (Jerusalem), and to stop destroying them or exposing them to danger, and to stop all actions that are harmful to the environment. These actions include the Israeli settlers’ aggressive practices, like dumping waste of all kinds in the lands of the occupied Syrian Golan and the occupied Palestinian territory, which poses a serious threat to the population’s natural resources, specifically the water and the soil, and threatens the environment and the health of civilians.
