The opening of annual international charity bazaar in Damascus

The annual International Charitable Bazaar for the year 2023 opened yesterday  Saturday, which is held by the Diplomatic Club in Syria in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Social Affairs and Labor at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

About16 Arab and foreign embassies participated in the bazaar including Libya, Jordan, Sudan, Bahrain, Chile, Belgium, Belarus, Pakistan, India, Russia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Abkhazia, South Africa, India, in addition to Syria and several charitable organizations.

Shadi Kharsi , Reception manager at the Lybian embassy told Syria Times: We display products from Libya, including date, spices, honey, , copper ,wedding cups, accessories and straw products, food and pottery. We participate in this event to introduce people to Libyan products.

Mrs. Aya Bin Shaaban , the Head of the Diplomatic Club in Syria, and the wife of Libyan Chargé d’Affaires said in her statement  that this year’s bazaar aims to collect the largest possible amount of donations with the aim of supporting charitable organizations  and to supporting families affected by the earthquake in Syria.

Mrs. Shukria Miqdad, the Honorary President of the Diplomatic Club of Syria and Patron of the Charity Bazaar, the wife of the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, told Syria Times that this bazaar is an annual activity in which  the women of the Diplomatic Club and charitable societies and embassies participate in it to achieve  social, cultural and artistic mixing .

“In addition, it is an opportunity for women to display goods and handicrafts, and the proceeds from this bazaar will go to those affected by the earthquake” Mrs. Miqdad added.

Mrs. Jihan Al-Kayed, wife of the Jordanian Chargé d’Affaires,  said : ” We display  in this bazaar , products from the Dead Sea, including salts and soap and other products which are part of the Jordan heritage. Our goal of participating is to help the families affected by the earthquake”.

His Excellency, Indian Ambassador Irshad Ahmad told Syria times : the purpose  behind this event is very important and very noble because the proceeds of this bazaar will go to the people affected by the earthquake.

“The Indian Embassy in Syria is a major participant in this event .It displays many handmade items. We also  have also  famous Indian snacks.I hope  the event becomes a  success” Indian Ambassador Irshad Ahmad added.

His Excellency, the Indonesian Ambassador in Damascus Mr. Wajid Fauzi said: This participation stems from the friendship spirit between Indonesia and Syria which was established a long time ago, and it is continuing the initiative that has been taken by the government of Indonesia to assist the Syrian people affected by the earthquake.

Through our booth , we introduce Indonesia , culturally and economically.We aim to present Indonesia  to the friendly people of Syria in order to get to know each other more  and more and exchange culture  and traditions.

We may consider it as a platform where interested  people can collect the information they need  about Indonesia.

Mrs. Radianti Fauzi, the wife of the Indonesian Ambassador, said : we have in our booth, Indonesian traditional food , traditional  fabrics and hand made products.
