China organizes an event to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people

An event was organized in the Chinese capital, Beijing, to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and to denounce the ongoing Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.

Xinhua Agency reported  that the event was jointly hosted by the Chinese People’s Friendship Association with Foreign Countries, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in China, and the Arab League mission in Beijing.

Ambassador Liu Jian from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed during his speech that the Palestinian issue represents the core of the Middle East issue, and is related to international fairness and justice. So the international community must take urgent measures to guarantee the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, and guarantee their right to stay and return as soon as possible.

Liu said  that the most important task currently is an immediate ceasefire, pointing out that the Israeli aggression that has been ongoing for more than two months on the Gaza Strip has led to serious humanitarian disasters and the loss of lives in large numbers.

He added: China intends to work with the international community to continue making efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza, take more realistic and effective measures to protect civilians, open more rescue channels for the Gaza Strip, and revive political prospects regarding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He stressed his country’s position of permanent and firm support for the achievement of justice.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant Chinese directorates, ambassadors and diplomats from relevant countries to China, Palestinian expatriates and international students in China, representatives of Chinese and foreign media, and other more than a hundred participants.
