Hungary vetoes 50-billion-euro aid to Ukraine

Hungary used its veto against a decision on a long-term EU program of assistance to the Ukrainian budget worth 50 billion euros.

“A veto was used against the provision of additional funds to Ukraine, and a veto was also used against the multi-year budget review,” TASS Agency quoted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as saying after the first day of the EU summit in Brussels yesterday.

The program of assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros extends until the end of 2027.The European Commission  has promised 33 billion euros for the Kiev system as credit loans and 17 billion euros in the form of grants, i.e., free of charge – aims at supporting Ukraine’s budget and providing funds for current expenditures.
