Arnous calls for creating production and investment partnerships between Syria and Iran

Prime Minister Hussein Arnous has stressed the need to accord special attention to production and investment partnerships between Syria and Iran, pointing out that notable efforts are being exerted by all the concerned parties in the two countries as to implement all the agreements reached.

In a press statement at the conclusion of the Syrian-Iranian talks and after signing several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding, Arnous noted the joint determination of the two countries to enhance cooperation, implement the agreements reached and follow up on implementing the agreements concluded during the visit of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi to Syria.

Syria and Iran during the meetings of the joint Higher Committee in Tehran signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding.

Syria’s Prime Minister Hussein Arnous and Iran’s First Vice President Muhammad Mokhber signed the minutes of the meetings of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Higher Committee.

The agreements included an annex to the Syrian-Iranian Free Trade agreement signed in 2011, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Central Bank of Syria and its Iranian counterpart, a memo in the field of tourism and a memo in the field of antiquities and museums as well as sports.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of Understanding between Al-Assad Library and the National Library and Archive of Iran.

The memos were signed for Syria by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil. The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria Mohammad Issam Hazimeh, and Deputy Head of the Commission for Planning and International Cooperation.

Arnous explained in the press statement that notable efforts have been exerted during the past period by all concerned ministries and authorities in Syria, as well as by the Iranian side, to implement the agreements reached, particularly concerning the joint bank, electricity projects, activating trade and tourism exchange, transportation, investment and industry cooperation.
