Beijing, (ST) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the need to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
Xinhua News Agency quoted Wang as saying in a phone call with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken: At the crossroads of war and peace, and to prevent a greater humanitarian crisis, major countries should commit to justice and fairness, support objectivity and neutrality, show calm and rationality, and make every effort to calm the situation in Gaza.
Wang added: Any solution to the current crisis in Gaza should not deviate from the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and any arrangement related to the future of Palestine must reflect the will of the Palestinian people.
Regarding the relationship between the two countries, Wang called for the sound steady and sustainable development of Sino-American relations. He said that what matters at the present time for both sides is to continue the positive effects of the San Francisco summit and achieve the consensus that the two sides reached to enhance stability in Chinese-American relations, in the interests of their common interests.
