Red Cross: The residents in Gaza live in constant fear of death

Dubai, (ST) – The Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Robert Mardini yesterday warned that the residents of the Gaza Strip live in constant fear of death as a result of the continuous Israeli aggression against it.

Reuters quoted Mardini as saying in a statement on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Conference (COP28) in Dubai: The people of Gaza live in constant fear of death as a result of violence. “They face difficulty in staying alive in light of the shortage of food and water due to the renewed conflict in the Strip, he added.

Mardini said: What I can say is that the resumption of fighting was intense again.

Mardini pointed out that hospitals are working with limited resources, and everything in the Gaza Strip has reached the point of collapse. He warned that the violence will make it difficult to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Mardini described Gaza as a state of chaos and rubble, and that this is a new level of destruction in addition to the massive and unparalleled destruction of vital infrastructure, civilian homes and residential neighborhoods.

Earlier, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths warned of the dangers facing the people of the Gaza Strip with the resumption of the Israeli aggression against it.
