Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Education, Dr. Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, on Wednesday discussed with the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Syria, Muriel Mafico and the accompanying delegation means of developing educational cooperation.
During the meeting, the importance of continuing communication and coordination to confront difficulties, unify efforts, and develop cooperation mechanisms in the programs and projects implemented by the Fund in various governorates, was emphasized in a way that helps improve the educational reality in schools.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Mardini stressed the importance of the services provided by the Fund in Syria. He stressed the importance of training teachers and focusing on students without care in areas where armed terrorist groups are spread, and which the Fund can reach.
Al-Mardini stressed the necessity of establishing psychological and social clinics affiliated with the Fund in every school that include psychological and social counselors from educational guidance and school health, whose role focuses on educating students.
In turn, Mafico pointed out the Fund’s focus on providing psychological and social support to young people who have suffered from the repercussions of war, caring for them, and training teachers in the areas of reproductive health, personal hygiene, and alleviating school violence. She indicated that one of the Fund’s work priorities is reaching remote, hard-to-reach areas.
