UN General Assembly adopts resolution calling on the Israeli occupation to withdraw from occupied Syrian Golan
The UN General Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution by the majority of member states, demanding that the Israeli occupation entity completely withdraws from the occupied Syrian Golan to the June 4, 1967 line in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions.
91 countries voted in favor of the resolution, titled the “Syrian Golan”, 7 countries and the Israeli entity rejected the resolution, while 62 countries abstained from voting.
The resolution says that the decision, made by the occupying power, Israel, in December 1981 to impose its laws and jurisdiction on the occupied Syrian Golan, is null and void, as confirmed by the Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981, and that the new resolution calls on “Israel” to withdraw completely from the occupied Syrian Golan to the June 4, 1967 line, in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions.
