Thousands of demonstrators in Canada demand an end to the aggression against Gaza

OTTAWA, (ST) – Thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of the Canadian Parliament building in the capital, Ottawa, waving Palestinian flags and demanding an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

According to AP, the demonstration included a diverse spectrum of Canadians, anti-war groups, trade unions, social justice organizations, and Islamic, Arab and Palestinian communities.

The demonstration came after the launching of an electronic petition that was presented to Canadian legislators last Friday. The petition  collected 286,719 signatures and was  described as the highest number of signatures on an electronic petition to the Canadian Parliament urging Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to press for a permanent cessation of the aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The protest organizers stressed that the temporary truce is not enough, after the deaths of thousands of Palestinians and the destruction of their infrastructure in Gaza.

One of the demonstrators said: The protest aims to awaken the world to see the plight of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

It is noteworthy that the Canadian police and Trudeau’s entourage were forced to take measures to transfer him from inside a restaurant after he was surrounded by thousands of protesters calling for an end to the aggression against Gaza.
