The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA affirmed that the number of displaced Palestinians, as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, has reached one million, warning that the tasks UNRWA is carrying out exceed its capabilities nine times.
Sputnik news agency quoted UNRWA spokesman Adnan Abu Hasna as saying: “The number of displaced persons that the agency accommodates in its facilities exceeds its capacity by between 4 to 9 times,” explaining that the number of displaced persons in Gaza Strip reached one million displaced persons who moved from the north of the Strip to the South of it, and they live in 156 shelter centers.
The agency spokesman pointed out that the number of all trucks that have entered Gaza Strip since the start of the war is not enough for the residents of Gaza for more than 3 days, stressing the necessity of allowing the return of aid entry to reach the levels it was previously at, which was 500 trucks per day.
Abu Hasna stated that the need in the current situation is estimated at a rate of 800 trucks per day for two or three months, so that the basic needs of the people of Gaza can be met.
The agency indicated that the number of its employees who have died so far has reached 108 individuals, considering this number to be the largest in the history of human losses suffered by United Nations employees.
