8 members of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces martyred in American aggression south of Baghdad

Baghdad , (ST) – 8 members of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces were martyred as a result of an American aggression that targeted the mobilization forces’ headquarters today in Jurf Al-Nasr area, south of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted the Popular Mobilization Authority as saying in a statement: A number of positions of the Popular Mobilization Authority were subjected to treacherous American attacks this dawn. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of  8 members of the mobilization forces and the wounding of  4 others.

The Authority also indicated that the attacks targeted the Jazira Operations Command within Jurf Al-Nasr sector, north of Babylon city and the fighters while they were performing their sacred national duty.

The Authority condemned this hostile act, which is a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty.

For his part, the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani condemned the American aggression that targeted Jurf Al-Nasr area and left 8 martyrs and four wounded.

The official spokesman for the Iraqi government, Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement: The Iraqi government confirms that it is dealing with the recent escalation as a dangerous escalation that involves an unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty. He added: “We strongly condemn this attack which took place without the knowledge of the Iraqi government agencies which is considered a clear violation of sovereignty and an attempt to disrupt the stable internal security situation”.

The statement clarified that the Iraqi government is exclusively concerned with implementing the law. It stressed that no external party has the right to perform this role on its behalf, which is unacceptable in accordance with Iraqi constitutional sovereignty and international law.

The statement called on the so-called “international coalition forces in Iraq” to commit themselves to Iraq’s sovereignty, the violation of which will not be tolerated in any way.
