Minister of Social and Labor Affairs discusses with UNICEF ways to enhance joint cooperation

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Louay Al-Munajjid, discussed with Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Yasu Masa Kimura ways to enhance and develop joint cooperation.

The meeting, which was held in the building of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in Damascus, discussed ways to benefit from the organization’s technical skills and expertise in the field of drafting laws related to correctional care and the phenomenon of begging.

Minister Al-Munajjid underlined the importance of finding a sustainable solution to these social problems, and the necessity of conducting specialized surveys through multi-dimensional studies that measure the needs of children from all aspects of life. He highlighted the Ministry’s desire to benefit from the organization’s experience in the field of capacity building for non-governmental organizations to be a contributor to the field of community development.

Minister Al-Munajjid pointed out the Ministry’s readiness to provide all the necessary facilities for the organization’s work on the ground, and the necessary support to implement its programs in a way that reflects positively on the target segments, especially with regard to the cash assistance program for children with disabilities. He stressed the importance of continuing communication between the technical teams of the two parties to unify efforts and develop new mechanisms for cooperation in programs and projects implemented by UNICEF in Syria.

For his part, the Resident Representative of UNICEF praised the support and facilities provided to the organization’s work in Syria, stressing their intention to develop cooperation mechanisms in a way that improves the organization’s performance on the ground.
