Gaza Media Office: The occupation and the international community shoulder responsibility for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza

The Gaza Media Office confirmed that the Israeli occupation and the international community shoulder full responsibility for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The office called on countries of the world and international organizations to stand up to their responsibilities and halt the crime of starvation committed by the occupation against 2.3 million Palestinians.

The office explained in a statement yesterday that the humanitarian situation is worsening day after day, deteriorating in an unprecedented way, and the situation is becoming more catastrophic as the Strip suffers from scarcity of basic foodstuffs such as flour, oil, rice, and various types of canned food.

The office stated that in addition to this ongoing suffering suffered by approximately 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the numbers of displaced people from the north to the south of the Gaza Strip have become very large and beyond the capacity, which has created an increasing need to request basic relief materials that do not already exist.

The office said: The occurrence of famine in the Gaza Strip as a result of the severe shortage of food and basic materials confirms that the international community, led by the United States of America, is plotting a malicious plan aimed at emptying the Gaza Strip and displacing its people to Egypt, which is rejected by the Palestinian people.

The office added: “We hold the international community and the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the loss of food supplies from markets and shops in the Gaza Strip. We call on all countries of the world and international organizations, bodies and institutions to stand up to their responsibilities and stop the crime of starvation.”

The office called on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to play its full role and supply the people of the Gaza Strip in all regions with the relief and basic materials and supplies required immediately and urgently.
