UNRWA: More than 1.7 million Palestinians have been displaced since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip led to the displacement of about 1.7 million Palestinians throughout the besieged Strip, and they are living in hard conditions inside crowded shelters.
The agency said in a report published on its website: Nearly 884,000 displaced people now reside in 154 facilities affiliated with the agency in all five governorates of the Gaza Strip, including in the north of the Strip.
The agency warned that the number of displaced people would continue to increase, as UNRWA shelters in the central and southern regions had become extremely overcrowded and unable to accommodate the new arrivals.
The agency warned that excessive overcrowding leads to a large spread of diseases, including acute respiratory diseases and diarrhea, and also raises environmental and health issues.
The media office in Gaza confirmed that the Israeli occupation and the international community shoulder full responsibility for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The media office in Gaza called on countries of the world and international organizations to stand up to their responsibilities and stop the crime of starvation committed by the occupation against 2.3 million Palestinians.
The media office in Gaza called on UNRWA to play its full role and provide the people in Gaza with relief and basic materials and supplies required immediately and urgently.
