Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Information Boutros Al-Hallaq discussed with the new representative of the United Nations Population Fund Muriel Mavico aspects of cooperation between the ministry and the fund as well as the program of the projects proposed for cooperation during the years 2024-2025.

Al-Hallaq clarified that the cooperation plan includes producing a number of documentary films and radio clips to raise awareness about reproductive health, the health system, domestic violence, and empowering women socially and psychologically, in addition to training media professionals and enhancing their professional capabilities.

Al-Hallaq pointed to the importance of developing the cooperation program between the Ministry and the Fund in a way that serves the basic general directions of both sides, especially with regard to the Ministry’s future plans for the next two years.

For her part, Mavico expressed her readiness to fully cooperate with the Ministry of Information to implement the 2024 plan and any suggestions that are consistent with this plan and its objectives. She called on the Ministry to cover the “16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence,” which is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, and its closing ceremony will be held on the tenth of next month.

Mavico noted the need to pay attention to the activities that will coincide with the 30th  anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development, which falls next year.
