Lavrov: Russia condemns Israel’s violation of international humanitarian law

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Russia condemns Israel’s violation of the international humanitarian law through the war it is waging on Gaza Strip.
Russia Today RT website quoted Lavrov as saying during a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart: “We categorically condemn the methods that blatantly violate the international humanitarian law and the indiscriminate bombing of neighborhoods, hospitals and schools, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent citizens, including children.” stressing that this problem can only be solved through the establishment of a Palestinian state as stipulated in the UN Security Council resolutions.
Lavrov pointed out that the more this issue is delayed, the more difficult it will be to ensure stability in the entire region, pointing out that once the fighting stops and the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip are met, we must sit at the negotiation table and agree to establish a Palestinian state.
The Russian top diplomat explained, “There is only a small amount of land left in which a Palestinian state should be established, especially in the West Bank, as a result of the unilateral measures taken by the Israeli authorities, where settlements were established whose legality was not recognized by any country in the world.”

Lavrov stated that the ALBA group, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America, issued a statement regarding developments in the situation around Gaza Strip and the Middle East, indicating that Russia and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have identical positions regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip and the entire Middle East.
