Syrian-Armenian talks in Damascus

Damascus (ST) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Faisal Al- Mikdad stressed the depth of the historical relations between Syria and Armenia, which was evident in the unity of the two countries’ positions regarding many issues raised on the international scene, especially respect for the sovereignty of countries and non-interference in their internal affairs.

During Al-Mikdad’s meeting with the delegation of National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia headed by the Assembly’s Vice President Hakob Arshakyan, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Damascus and the Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Al-Mikdad pointed to the need for the Turkish regime to stop escalating the situation and conflicts in the region, and not to interfere in the internal affairs of countries.

In the same context, Al-Meqdad stressed the inhumane and immoral impact of the unilateral measures imposed by the US and Western countries on the Syrian people.

Al-Meqdad noted the importance of parliamentary work in strengthening friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and contributing to the development of bilateral relations in all fields.

For his turn, Arshakyan affirmed Armenia’s position in rejecting all forms of occupation, stressing his country’s intention to continue strengthening its relations with Syria.

Arshakyan pointed to continue cooperation in the field of mine clearance, standing by Syria in all international forums, and supporting its unity and sovereignty over all its lands.
