Moscow: America’s position paralyzed the work of UN Security Council regarding stopping the war in Gaza

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the UN Security Council cannot implement its direct mandate and remains paralyzed, due to the position of the US in support of Israel, which refuses to end the war in Israel.

In a statement reported by Novosti Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry said:” the United States is trying to impose an ultimatum on the delegations of the UN security Council, in order to allow Israel to continue the cleansing it is carrying out against the residents of Gaza Strip, explaining that “the United Nations Council” as the main body for maintaining the international peace and security is required to take a decision,  but it has not yet been able to do so as a result of the position of one country, which is the United States.”

The statement indicated that despite the unanimous calls of United Nations representatives for “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that would put an end to this inhumane collective punishment and the suffering of children, women and the elderly, American measures, in practical terms, interfere in the implementation of these calls,” stressing the necessity of reaching this immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

The statement considered that American calls to stop hostilities in the conflict zone in the Middle East do not have the necessary mechanisms, and will not lead to stopping these actions.

It is noteworthy that the United States continues to provide unconditional support for the Israeli occupation in its aggression against the Gaza Strip,  rejects any movement leading  to a ceasefire and the massacres committed against the Palestinian people and the entry of humanitarian aid, and has used its veto power against a Russian draft resolution for a ceasefire.
