Israeli occupation continues to bomb and besiege “Al-Shifaa” Medical Complex in Gaza

For the third day in a row, the Israeli occupation aircrafts and artillery continue their violent bombardment of the Shifaa Medical Complex west of Gaza City, in addition to besieging it from all sides, despite the warnings of a humanitarian catastrophe and the martyrdom of thousands of medical staff, wounded, sick and displaced.

The occupation vehicles are stationed near the main gates of the complex, which are directly targeting its buildings amid heavy fire coverage and continuous bombardment from drones, preventing the exit of those inside, including the displaced, wounded, patients, medical teams, and paramedics, who are left without electricity, food, water, or fuel.

A large number of wounded and sick people and two premature infants were martyred inside the complex, due to general power outage including  all medical equipment, and the inability of the medical teams to provide assistance.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the situation is catastrophic at Al Shifaa complex, and the occupation has turned it into a war zone, as it continued to bomb it throughout last night and this morning with aircrafts and artillery, and destroyed water tanks there as  more than 100 dead bodies are in the complex’s courtyard.

The Ministry indicated that 37 premature infants are at risk of death due to the cold in the incubators as a result of the occupation cutting off electricity, and medical teams are resorting to warming them with blankets.

On Saturday , two children were  martyred  while the rest of the premature infants suffered from severe infections, and no one knows what their fate will be.

The Palestinian Health Ministry explained that there are 1,350 injured and sick people, medical personnel, and more than 10,000 displaced people besieged at  the complex, noting that all attempts to save the lives of the wounded and sick in the area have been lost.

The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that there is difficulty in evacuating Al-Shifaa Medical Complex, as there are more than 60 patients in intensive care, 37 infants in the premature and incubation ward, and more than 500 patients in dialysis departments.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on last October the 7th , 198 health personnel and 36 civil defense personnel have been martyred, more than 130 have been wounded, and 22 out of 35 hospitals and 51 out of 72 primary health care centers have been out of service due to bombing or running out of fuel and medicines. The occupation also destroyed 53 ambulances.

The Palestinians call on the United Nations and international organizations to be present in the hospitals of the Gaza Strip that are targeted and threatened by bombing, to reveal the facts , protect  these hospitals,  prevent the occupation from destroying them and committing new massacres, which are more brutal than Al-Mamadani  Hospital massacre, which left  about 500 martyrs and hundreds of wounded.
