General Union of Arab Writers calls for accountability of those responsible for Zionist massacres in Gaza

The General Union of Arab Writers renewed its absolute rejection of the racist aggression carried out by the Israeli occupier against the Palestinian people in besieged Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories.

At the conclusion of its emergency meeting held in Cairo, the Union confirmed in a statement that tens of thousands of Arab intellectuals and hundreds of millions of Arab people, declare their categorical rejection of the massacres and the scorched earth policy carried out by the occupation authorities, which led to the martyrdom of more than ten thousand of civilians, including seven thousand children and women, forty-nine journalists and four writers.

“The Zionist entity destroyed hospitals, and targeted medical personnel, ambulances, schools, mosques, churches, bakeries, and shelters in blatant violation of the most basic humanitarian principles and values and international conventions, especially the Geneva and Hague Conventions”, the Union added.

The Union affirmed that what happened on October 7 was intimidation and an inevitable result of the practices of the Israeli occupation over many decades, reiterating its absolute support for the principled positions and the great efforts exerted to prevent the displacement of Palestinians from their land to Sinai or any place outside their homeland.

The Union condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon, calling on international human rights organizations, and Arab and Islamic organizations to work, exert efforts, and coordinate positions to achieve an immediate cessation of the aggression against Gaza, open safe passages, allow the entry of medical, food, and fuel aid, adhere to international conventions and treaties, and immediately stop war crimes and genocides as well as collective punishment.

The Union called for holding those responsible for the Zionist massacres accountable before the International Criminal Court, to confront all attempts of forced displacement, to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people, to help them establish their independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, to withdraw from the occupied Arab territories, and to stop the infringement on Arab rights and wealth.
