Putin: Cooperation between Russia and China is a serious factor in stabilizing the international situation

Moscow, (ST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday stressed that cooperation between Russia and China is a serious factor for stabilizing the international situation. He added that it is also gaining increasing importance, especially in the military field between them.

The RT website quoted Putin as saying during a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Central Military Council Zhang Yuxia in Moscow today: Cooperation between the two countries has a constructive nature and is considered as a serious factor in stabilizing the international situation.  It added that Russia and China are not building any Cold War-style military alliances.

Regarding contacts between Russia and China in the military field, Putin said: Our cooperation and contacts have become increasingly important as for the military-technical field, we occupy a leading position in the fields of high technology, that is, space, including groups operating in high orbit, taking into account the types of modern and promising weapons which will ensure the security of both Russia and China.

Putin pointed out that the two countries are cooperating effectively in the economic field, as trade and economic relations are developing at a good pace.

Putin revealed Moscow and Beijing’s interest in regional platforms that are becoming more and more global in nature, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group.
