There are currently 1,131 licensed and unlicensed poultry farms spread across Damascus countryside governorate, including 864 licensed poultry farms concerned with raising broilers, layers, and broiler mothers, in addition to hatcheries producing 204 laying poultry farms and 63 poultry farms specializing in the production of broilers.
Head of the Animal Production Department at the Directorate of Agriculture in the Damascus countryside, Engineer Maan Abboud, explained in a statement to SANA correspondent that the poultry farms in the governorate include 3,102,138 birds with a production capacity of one billion eggs in an 18-month cycle, while poultry farms that produce broilers include 635,980 birds that produce 950 tons of meat in a cycle. .
For his part, Head of the Department of Agriculture in the Yabroud city , Engineer Osama Manna, said that the city of Yabroud, which was the first to embrace poultry farming in Syria and from where it spread to the rest of the governorates, includes 190 working poultry farms, including 21 poultry farms that include 221,600 birds, and 81 laying poultry farms that produce 973,238 eggs per cycle. .
Head of Animal Health in Yabrud, Dr. Marwan Wawiyah, said that breeders in Yabroud have sufficient experience to produce the best types of chicks and broilers, which has made the reality of breeding in the city better despite the high production requirements, pointing out that the animal health of all poultry farms is monitored periodically and that vaccines are provided on time.
