Launching Damascus Health Scientific Days 2023 activities

The activities of the Damascus Health Scientific Days 2023 conference, held by the Damascus Health Directorate, began today and will continue until the 9th of this month.

he Samma’at Hakim (stethoscope) Foundation organized the conference which will focus on health systems management, public health, blood diseases, the respiratory and digestive systems, endocrine diseases, the musculoskeletal system, ear and nose surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics, gynecology, heart diseases and surgery, psychiatry, oncology, dermatology, kidney and urology, eye diseases and surgery,  orthopedics and general surgery.

In his speech, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, highlighted the importance of health days in creating greater spaces and opportunities for communication and exchange of information between various medical specialties, developing expertise and learning about everything new in order to provide the best services to patients

Dr. Al-Ghubash indicated that the number of health services provided in hospitals from the beginning of the year to date has reached more than 12 million free and semi-free services, and in health centers there are about 10 million services. 

In turn, the Director of Damascus Health, Dr. Muhammad Samer Shahrour, stated that the conference includes about 120 lectures and 32 sessions in participation with all medical and health educational and training bodies, with the aim of enhancing the public health of citizens and providing all the required services

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Samma’at Hakim Foundation, Dr. Hussein Al-Najjar, pointed out that over the course of 5 days, the topics of the conference will shed light on the latest scientific developments and rare clinical cases, which enhances the medical culture among doctors to be aware of the latest scientific findings

The Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Rasha Muhammad, explained that the axis of public health and management of health systems and hospitals was included as one of the axes for the first time within the scientific axes of the Damascus Health Days, as the importance of the public health specialty is rapidly increasing with the global trend towards interest in enhancing the health of the population and the greater focus on medicine. 

Director of Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital, Dr. Nizar Ibrahim, indicated that the hospital will discuss what is new during the health days in several areas, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and oncology.

In turn, the Director of Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Razan Al-Tarabishi, during her lecture on the economic feasibility study of introducing the human papillomavirus vaccine, explained the importance of health days to learn about scientific medical developments, whether national or international, and to inform doctors of everything that has been worked on and what achievements have been made to get it.
